PROJECT OVERVIEW
Grief Is A Feeling captures the complexity of grief by bringing together 24 different voices, each sharing their different experiences of grief. From mourning a person, a pet, a relationship, or a life you could have had, grief reveals itself as a multi-layered emotion that connects us all.
The idea for this cover plays with what is missing – all the adjectives that can be added to describe the type of feeling grief is, representing the myriad of explorations of grief found within the poems and short stories included within the anthology. But grief is also in itself a feeling characterized by something having been torn away from us, and the empty space left behind.
In the soft colors and earthy tones of the background, we wanted to ensure that the overall impression of the book is not one of darkness and the stereotypical associations of grief. The anthology very much emphasizes that grief can take many shapes and that there is good in it as well. The book aims to normalize grief as a topic of conversation.
